Individual Therapy

Dr. Kilmer provides individual therapy to adults as well as children and families. As a Psychologist, he brings compassion and sensitivity to the therapeutic relationship and in return, he'll ask you for open and honest communication and desire to achieve a greater sense of happiness and satisfaction in your life.

Although Dr. Kilmer see a wide range of presenting concerns in his practice, he does have several areas of sub-specialties that he focuses on.

Mood Disorders (e.g. depression, bipolar, anxiety)
One of his specialization's is the treatment of mood disorders which include depression and bipolar disorders; as well as anxiety and panic disorders. Research explains that the majority of the population will have at least one major depressive episode in their lifetime and Dr. Kilmer has extensive experience treating these spectrums of disorders. Although it is a common problem, it demands a comprehensive, flexible and disciplined treatment plan and and an understanding of each patient's unique experience. Dr. Kilmer remains current on the most state of the art treatment protocols to alleviate mood disorders, whether through strictly psychotherapy or if necessary, a combination of psychotherapy and psychiatric medications.

Trauma (e.g. sexual abuse, combat, accidents)
Dr. Kilmer specializes in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and has a certification in the Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Victims and Perpetrators of Violent Crime from California Graduate Institute. In addition to his certified expertise, he has over 15 years experience in the treatment of trauma and all related symptoms. Dr. Killmer understands that symptoms can affect all aspects of everyday life and is complicated by the fact that it frequently occurs in conjunction with related disorders such as depression, substance abuse, problems of memory and cognition, and other problems of physical and mental health.

Dependencies and Abuse (e.g. drug, alcohol, sex addictions)
Dr. Kilmer utilizes the most current, scientifically researched treatment interventions for chemical/alcohol dependency or abuse with proven effectiveness. Dependency or abuse can create negative social and interpersonal consequences, legal troubles, occupational problems and psychological as well as physical issues. Dr. Kilmer's approach is empathic, professional and disciplined and he strives to understand each patient's unique experience to be able to custom design a treatment schedule for them.
