Children & Families

Dr. Kilmer has extensive experience treating children and adolescents, as well as families in distress. Our practice encompasses all diagnosable disorders with a focus on issues of problematic behavior, identity and self-esteem, drug and alcohol abuse, victimization and trauma. Building a solid rapport with children and adolescents is crucial to developing a treatment schedule for them. Dr. Kilmer's education, training and experience enables him to treat all ages regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.

In addition to his private practice as a licensed Psychologist, Dr. Kilmer has experience as a children's social worker (CSW) with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services as a supervising social worker and with Aspira Foster and Family Services in California as a supervising social worker. Prior to that experience, Dr. Kilmer worked at 1736 Family Crisis Center; which was the original battered woman's shelter in Redondo Beach that evolved into a comprehensive, multi-faceted family treatment center. This additional training and experience allows Dr. Kilmer to assess, diagnosis and treat all aspects of children and family distress.

Dr. Kilmer has attended numerous additional training and certification courses to ensure he is utilizing the most current and scientifically researched treatment interventions.
